I wish I liked Flora! Good nature name; wonderful character in Cold Comfort Farm (I smile whenever I think of her); ticks all the boxes; but that margariney bread-spread slime puts me right off.Florence, therefore. Pleasantly retro, and Miss Nightingale is an interesting namesake. Just try to avoid the ghastly Florrie and Flo.

I prefer Florence. It's a really pretty name.

I prefer Flora because it's sprightly and associated with Ancient Rome; however, I also greatly admire the starchiness and stuffiness of Florence.

Maybe I'm biased because it is my mothers name, but Florence. Flora seems so frumpy. Old lady with frizzy gray hair in a floral print dress. Plus I like a lot of -ence names too.

I prefer Flora. Florence still feels stuffy to me.

I like both, but I'm more of a Flora fan. They both have their charm. Flora sounds more spirited, while Florence is more reserved.

I like Florence better. Then when ur wee ones character develops u can see what most suits her and it can be shortened to flora.

Flora and Florence are both elegant, but Flora is also sweet and very friendly, so she wins. :)

I love both names, but I have a slight preference for Florence. Its meaning is beautiful, it shares its name with a gorgeous city in Italy, and Florence Nightingale isn't a bad namesake at all. I like that it has a bit of age to it. I find a lot of feminine names are cutesy, dainty, and darling. Florence has strength. She's not there just to look pretty. She's admired because of her intelligence and work ethic.

I much prefer Flora to Florence. It's my number two girl's name. It's softer and more feminine to me.

I know a woman named Flora. She's confident, aggressive, and kind (if that makes sense). I like the name a lot.Florence seems a little old to me, but I bet it would look sweet on a little girl. What about Florence nn Flora?
