Philomena
What are your thoughts on Philomena? I think it's charmingly old-fashioned and feminine, like Josephine. I noticed that Philomène is trending in France. Do you think Philomena could also make a come back?

I like Philomena as a middle name for Mary, but that might just be the Catholic in me. I think it has the geek-chic to make a minor comeback on the coattails of Athena and others like her. It has an elegance to it and a golden sort of feeling. Virgin martyrs are good simple role models, and namesakes have been important to me lately.Combinations I like:
Mary Philomena - light and elegant and oh-so-very-Catholic (in a good way)
Philomena Jane - feels a little English countryside to me
Briony Philomena
Philomena Rose
Philomena Therese
Catherine PhilomenaPhilomena's brothers could be Damien, Clement, or Vincent. Her sisters might be Agnes, Gloria, or Beata.

Gosh, Mary Philomena, Philomena Jane and Philomena Therese are wonderful.

I know a little Philomenaand her older brothers are Dominic & Blaise :) I love the name (and the saint), although I wouldn't use it as a FN because of length. I think it will always have some level of obscurity in the US (except in very strong Catholic communities).

Philomena and Dominic are adorable names for siblings. Blaise is interesting, but I'm not fond of the meaning ("lisping").

I love Philomena, though I don't think it'll be trendy in the States anytime soon, mainly because of how long / complex it is.

I like Philip and I like Mina, Josephine too. I should really like these sounds together in a name. I'd be pleased to meet a Philomena, but I wouldn't choose to use the name myself. Neither the sound or spelling matches but, for some reason, I think "phyllo dough".

Definitely. Philomena is charming, delicate, and just plain Greek-y. It's one of those names that seems unusable until someone uses it. Someone has to go first. :-)

I really like Philomena. Philomène is even better. Almost makes me want to move to France :)
