Orca
Thoughts on the name Orca?

No no no no, sorry. It's a whale and I don't think I could ever see anything else, especially as a girls name. There is Sorcha, which is the same sound but less large sounding, and I do think that is pretty, but I would strongly advise against Orca.
Thar she blows!
Snork!
Whales. Humungous whales getting revenge on people for killing their mate and baby. That's all

It's very fantasy novel. Makes me think of Orcs.
I picture baby seals being chomped in half. And Shamu and Free Willy.
Sorry, but this is one animal name that doesn't cross over well into the realm of human names.

Why would someone think about naming their kid Killer Whale? Not to offend you if you are, but that's the only think I think of when I hear orca- Shamu.
I knew an Orca . . .
He was a Newfoundland retriever. :-) It's a great name for any water-loving dog. But I wouldn't use it for a human.
Orca's "sibling" was named Bosun (as in boatswain). It's funny, because I can see Bosun (Bo) on a human. But not Orca. I don't know what the difference is. Perhaps it's the "orc" sound in Orca that's putting me off.
