Tadhg
I really like this name...alot. I like the sound and the meaning (and I personally think it goes okay with Liam, my 1st sons name).
I have considered other spellings. Mainly Teige and Tighe. Would either of these spellings work better or would it still be mispronounced?

I'm glad to see some positive responses and constructive critisism for this name. Thanks! It was slammed pretty hard on another forum. We will keep all comments in consideration. We are still trying to decide if we want to keep with the four letter theme (which would leave Tadhg out). But we shall see. It's a good name and reflects our heritage (which is very important to us).
Tyge? Or tie? It still isn't clear by any of those spellings. I think all the spellings are ugly anyway, especially the first one, which looks so random, like a word you get from trying to press as many keys as possible at once.
I adore the name Tadhg. When I use it in combos for anyone outside of Ireland I use the Tighe spelling. I think it's the most user-friendly for those not used to Irish spellings. But man, the authentic Tadhg spelling is so much better. Either one would be fantastic with a brother named Liam. :-)

I can see Teige and Tighe still being mispronounced. Tighe seems more likely to render TIEG than Teige does, so I'd recommend Tighe before Teige. Teige seems more likely to render TEEG or perhaps TAYG or TAYJ. Some people might even be tempted to say TAYZH (like "beige" with a "T").
I prefer Tadhg to Teige and Tighe.
If you'd definitely like to avoid a first name that will be mispronounced and misspelled on a regular basis, there's still the option of using Tadhg as a middle name instead.

To be honest, I think Teige and Tighe could have spelling and pronunciations issues as well so I'd rather go with Tadhg and educate if necessary but that's just me. I just see it as a Shawn / Shaun thing where Sean sudden becomes well known and then the former two spellings look wrong. Same with Maeve which is why I've never been serious about it. I was always afraid Medb or another spelling would take off and Maeve would look wrong.
BTW, I adore Tadhg!
