Opinions on Samantha
What do you think of Samantha?

I always had a soft spot for the name Samantha, maybe because it's the name of one of my favorite female characters. I also really like feminine names that have masculine diminutives, and Sam is right up there (though I should be clear that the fact that Sam is a boys name is not the reason I like Samantha, just a bonus to my style sensibility). That said, I do think that it's probably one of my less original favorites, and usually group it in the pretty-but-a-little-too-common category with the likes of Elizabeth. I think that it may be facing a decline though, and perhaps a little Sam girl will be more of a novelty than it was in my childhood. Also, I think that spicing it up with a more uncommon middle name can really help the attractiveness. I usually go with Samantha Elise, although Elise is becoming quite popular as well.
It's my sisters name. I think it's really pretty, but I don't really like any of the nicknames for it.
I don't really care for it. I think it's a little dated and the sound of it doesn't really appeal to me. I'm also not a huge fan of Sam/Sami as a feminine nickname.
I think it's nice. My image of it is sort of frowzy or sloppy. I'm not sure why. But mostly I think it's a nice enough name. Doesn't seem really dated to me.
Long before I had children, I liked Samantha a lot. Now, I'm truly done with it because I've just seen and heard it too much. I can definitely understand its appeal for those who still use it, though.
I want to like it, but I don't. She was my favorite American girl doll and it's stylistically and in terms of when it would be dated to, similar to what I usually like, but I just have never really liked it. I hate Sami/Sammy, just cause of the sound, and Sam is all boy to me, but Samantha just seems like too much for everyday somehow (and I'm okay with Elizabeth, so go figure, that's real logical :P ). It's not a bad name at all, and I much prefer it to what's trendy now, but still nms.
I love it. I consider it a modern classic. It's pretty, but it's also quirky.
I always imagine a goddess surrounded by fireflies and exotic flowers. Samantha makes me see very bright pinks, oranges, and purples. It seems very cheerful. Best of all, it works on any age. I know elderly, middle-aged, teenaged, and newborn Samanthas. There were even Samanthas in my family tree during the 1800s! It also comes with great nickname options! ^_^ It might not be an unheard of choice, but you certainly can't go wrong with it.

I don't dislike it, but it's just a bit boring and plain. It's quite common and a bit dated and I think there are nicer names out there.
I like it. It's popular among people my age, and it's still popular for little girls, but it doesn't seem boring to me. It sounds friendly and sophisticated but in a down-to-earth way.
One of my cousins has a baby daughter named Samantha. The name suits her well.

It's my cousin's name, but spelled Zamantha. I've never been a fan of the name, no matter which spelling. And honestly I don't think it would work that well on a child today, I find it quite dated.
It's okay, but I was never all that crazy about it. It sounds a little like a name for a teenage girl's kitten.
