Thoughts on Jeanne?
(I wanted to post again...)What do you think of Jeanne? It's my paternal grandmother's middle name. She pronounces it like the English name Jean. I prefer that, though the French pronunciation sounds nice too.

I like it, and I pronounce it just like Jean also.

I think I prefer it spelled Jean for English speakers (or non-French-speakers...) because it looks neater to my eye. But it's a lovely name all the same.

It's a nice name. This is the first name of my new uncle's mom.

I prefer Jane, but Jeanne is decent. I like the spelling Jeanne better than Jean. It looks more feminine.Jeanne would be refreshing these days.

I love Jeanne (and Jean)! Jeannie is an adorable nickname.

Oooh, I love Jeanne. It would be so nice to see it used again, especially as a fn. And if it's a family name for you then all the better. I'm with you on the pronunciation. Either like Jean or the French way, "zhan." My only fear with Jeanne is that a lot of people (here in the U.S.) think it should be pronounced like Jeanie. I love Jeanie, but not spelled "Jeanne."

Oh, thank you!
Jean is my name, Jeanie to family and friends of long standing. And that's the way I've always spelled it.

At one time I seriously considered using Jean for a dd. I love its sweet simplicity. And the nn Jeanie is so, so cute. I'm glad your parents used it, even if I never did. :-P
