Bella's ok on its own, though Asian ESL students are the group that first come to mind when it comes to picturing that name on anyone.
Annabella feels a little too frilly for my liking.

Really? I worked with Asia ESL students and they are usually called Lily or Amy :P Something cute that ends in an -ee sound :)

May have changed over the years... Encountered a couple Taiwanese gals who chose Fancy... Did know a Bella or 2... a Christine... Taiwanese often choose things like Daniel, Matthew or Christopher for boys.
My parents had a Taiwanese guy who went by David and a gal who went by Eleanor. I recall a Gloria or 2 from HK. Most Jpns. go by their real name, so when I did most of my ESL related stuff in the west was back in the 90s.
