Julius is handsome but hard
That's how I view them so I can see why Julian is more popular than the other two.
I knew a Jules who was weak and wheezy so that contributed to my already "soft" impression of Jules. Plus, Jules as a nn for Julie/Julia of just on it's own is pretty popular on girls. Julius is bold and probably still very Roman sounding to a lot of people so I think it sort of scares people off. I quite like Julius but prefer it as a MN because Julian is loads more approachable
