Re: Jules, Juilus and Julian
in reply to a message by vigdis
I really like all three names but Julian is my least favorite. Jules is my favorite (it's on my PNL). I like the sound and look of it. I think of Jules as a rugged gentleman whereas Julius is a bit more sophisticated and smart. Julius nn Jules would be nice.
I used to work with a girl called Jules and I was pretty disappointed when I found out her name was Julia (Julia Frances). I don't really like Jules for a girl but it suited her really well.

I had a great-aunt whose name was Julia and she went by Jule. Not JuleS, but Jule. I don't like Jules for a girl, but I rather like Jule.
Jule is interesting. And actually much nicer than Jules for a girl. I think I like it. Could it stand on its own? It's pretty unisex but there are two user-submitted Jule and it seems to be a feminine name used in Germany.
I think it could stand on its own for a girl. The only problem I can see is that sometimes people might assume it's Jewel, if it's in an English speaking country. It sounds more feminine to me than masculine.
If you like Jule for a girl why NOT just go with Jewel?
Because Jewel is ugly. I don't like the look of it at all. The fact that Jule sounds like Jewel but is much more appealing look-wise makes me like it even more.
