I don't like it. If it were not a surname, but were an invented name for girls, I'd like it. But since it is a surname, it's like Riley... uniformed and fierce (General Sheridan), and only gets away with being a girls name because of the Sherry part, how it sounds so much like Cherilyn. It seems like a very quiet fad. Sherry and Cherilyn are not any worse than Sheridan at all IMO.
I like Lindsay alright. It's nms, sort of along the lines of Ashley and Sydney. Yes, dated because trendy, which doesn't bother me on paper but I would not want to be born today and be given Lindsay as my first name. Middle name, it doesn't matter. I don't care for the spelling Lindsey. It reminds me of linsey-woolsey and seems flimsier - like Aiden compared to Aidan, it seems spelled to look kewter.
