Glenda & Glynis
I've long been fond of both Glenda and Glynis but I find it difficult to pair them. Do Glenda Penelope and Glynis Muriel work? Opinions? Suggestions?

I heart GlynisI'm not the biggest Glenda fan because it makes me think of Glen Ford, an old Hollywood actor, and Glinda the Good Witch of the North in the Wizard of Oz. I'm more partial to Glenna than Glenda which makes little sense because it's even closer to Glen Ford. Go figure.Glynis, on the other hand, I am head over heels in love with. It's just the sort of charming, slightly frumpy name that tickles my heart. Plus, I love watching old Glynis Johns movies. Glynis Muriel is faaaaaaaabulous. I love, love it. :-)Glynis Muriel, Gwyneth Elinor and Gladys Hermione sound like they would live next door to each other very happily.

Thanks, Bear.Always appreciate your input and I enjoy Glynis Johns as well. Was thrilled to see her in 'While You Were Sleeping', the Sandra Bullock flick. She was funny and charming.Glenna is missing the "d" in Ford so I think, sound-wise, Glenda probably is closer to Glen Ford. I've no idea who he is. :)Gwyneth Elinor is lovely and, while Gladys has never been a favorite, how could I refuse her so dressed up and neighborly-like? :)

I'm not too keen on Glenda. I prefer Glenna. Glenda Penelope has a nice flow, though.I like Glynis. I find it preferable to Gwyneth, which it reminds me of. Guinness did come to mind, but it's not that big of a deal. Glynis Muriel is a nice combo.

Glenna is also nice and I haven't really given her much thought. Will let her simmer for a bit. I'm not a drinker, so Guinness never occurred to me at all, hehe. :)

I think Glynis has a heroic, medieval feel, which is cool. Glenda on its own would sound icky and dated, but next to Glynis it is given a similar association.Penelope matches the imagery (Homer!), but not Muriel, which I find too old-lady. Others may disagree.I prefer Glynis Penelope to Glenda Penelope, because of the repeated en that others have mentioned. A few combos:Glenda Katrina
Glenda Ysabel
Glenda Danielle
Glenda Rolande
Glenda Willemina
Glenda Ivona
Glenda Dominique

Thank you......Rolande is new to me. Is this pronounced as ro-LAWND? The suggestions of Glynis Penelope are growing on me, but I have an image in my mind that wants Muriel. :)

Correct :)

Agree with Anneza that they work better switched, because of the repeated -en.
Do you like Glenys? I think I prefer it.
Glenys Anwen
Glenda Lucy
Glynis Catrin
Glenys Ffion
Glenda Elen
Glynis Lowri
Glenys Marigold
Glenys Myfanwy - now there's an old-lady name but somehow pretty anyway
Glenda Mared
Glynis Irene

Glenys is alright......but I'm not as fond of her as the other two. Of your suggestions, I best like Glenda Lucy and Glynis Irene, the latter especially. Thank you for your input; much appreciated. :)

I was going to suggest names with a Medieval Fantasy/British Isles aesthetic to go with Glenda and Glynis because that's the feel the names evoke for me. You beat me to it. Anwen, Catrin, Ffion, Lowri, Marigold, Myfanwy and Irene all fit the kind of image I was thinking of.

I like Penelope a lot and Glynis sufficiently. But I think that Glenda Muriel (avoiding that repeated -en-) and Glynis Penelope work better.I've got two Muriel cousins, but not even they can warm me up to it. I do like Mariel, though.

Thanks! I'll let these simmer. :)

Aren't those Phoebe's terrifying paintings on "Friends?"I feel like those were the two horrifically ugly paintings that Phoebe tried to give as gifts to Monica and Rachel. Regardless, they're extremely dated, IMO, and not in a way that indicates they'll ever be good ideas again. Glynis Muriel is unshakably an 85-year-old lady. You'd have to pick a much more modern name to make that usable. Glenda Penelope is both ancient and a parrot. :/ Sorry. I really think you should look for more contemporary MNs, or perhaps use Glenda and Glynis as MNs.Juliana Glynis
Glynis Annora
Glenda Claire
Cassandra Glynis
Alexandra Glynis / Glynis Alexandra
Eliora Glenda
Elizabeth Glenda
Felicity Glenda
Glenda Lily
Samantha GlynisEven with the modern MNs, they still seem just so out-of-date to me. :/

Thank you......I appreciate your comments. I must have missed the 'Friends' episode you reference, but I wouldn't use the two names for siblings so doubt it would come up. Of the two, I prefer Glynis, largely due to childhood association with the actress, Glynis Johns.I do like Glynis Annora and have that down already as a possibility. Hadn't thought of Samantha Glynis or Cassandra Glynis, so thank you for those; very nice. :)
