haha one of my professors actually has a daughter named Savanna. He teaches macroeconomics. He brought her to a seminar a few weeks ago and she was so cute that I fell in love with the name. I never cared much for it before. She also made me think about spelling it without the H. The names have very different images, Savannah is a southern belle and Savanna seems more modern.
I agree that it may have a bit of a downmarket image. I don't think of that at all, to me it's a bright and happy name but I can see how some people might see it that way. I also agree that it is similar to Jasmine, Alyssa and Amber that way.
