Estelle or Gisèle?
Which would you choose? Any particular reason?

Gisele
Estelle will always be Joey`s agent to me *shudder*

Estelle just because I like "star" names, but Gisèle's nice too.
Gisèle
Simply because names that start with a reduced vowel annoy me. uh-stelle. uh-lisha. uh-livia. I don't mind reduced vowels so much if they're sandwiched or preceded by consonants, because that gives the name more clarity. A name beginning with a reduced vowel is muddy and awkward to say. Longer names, like Elizabeth, make up for it with the complexity and distinction that comes afterwards.

Gisèle, but not the German Gisele (or Gisela). I like the ballet connection, and Estelle (where I live anyway)has a downmarket, over-55 image. I greatly prefer Stella to Estelle, but I wouldn't use Estella at gunpoint. Can't really explain that one.
You could be on to something!
Estelle
While I think both names sound lovely, the meaning of Estelle is far nicer, so that's what wins me over on it.

I like both, but I prefer the sound of Estelle. It's also less likely to be mispronounced.
Estelle
I know how Gisèle would be pronounced where I live. Enforcing a more French pronunciation would be a lifetime exercise in frustration. Hearing jiz-ZEL all the time would make my ears bleed.

Estelle.....
Gisele always makes me think of the word gazelle. I don't hate Gisele I actually like it, but I prefer Estelle. I prefer the sound of Estelle and I love that it means star. It's pretty, elegant and under used. I'm a fan of Stella and Estelle. I like Estella but I prefer both Stella and Estelle.

I like Gisele ok too but the "jiz" part turns me off of it. Gisele is sort of in your face sexy and exotic. Estelle is a classic beauty but grounded

I love both names, but that soft "zh" sound at the beginning of Gisele gets me every time, at least they way I say it. I don't mind the "j" way either.

Estelle.
Because Giséle sounds way too much like gazelle.

Really?
To my ears, zhee-ZEHL does not sound like gah-ZELL. Maybe I am ultrasensative to the difference.
Also, it's a ` diacritic (the other way).
