Jenna
Was Jenna too common in the 80s and 90s? Does it sound dated? Too close to dated Jennifer? WDYT Jenna? How many do you know?

I kinda like it... Have met very few. One of my students has decided that's going to be her En. name this year.

I don't know any Jennas, but I'm not in the born-in-or-near-the-80s-and-90s category. So it's not that surprising.I've never cared for Jenna, to be honest. To me it's like Tessa and Christa, I much prefer the originals (Jennifer, Theresa / Tess, and Christine / Christina).

I like Jenna. I think it actually has a "modern classic" feel to it (something like Natalie, Holly or Candace). Like, it's modern and fresh sounding but not so popular that it sounds dated - (makes sense as a bastard child of Jennifer and Emma, lol)I only know 2, one is my age (25) and the other is a distant cousin who is probably about 13 or 14

The only Jenna I know is about 8 years old. I don't really like the name that much though. It could possibly be confused as a nickname for Jennifer, but I also think it can stand alone as a full first name, unconnected to Jennifer.

I really like Jenna. Spunky and sweet. It has a different sound and feel to Jennifer to me.I don't feel like it's 80's 90's dated- but that could be because I only know one. She's 6 and just the cutest thing you ever saw, and so sweet. So that probably helps!

Although I see from the popularity statistics that Jenna had a big surge in popularity starting in 1984 and lasting until pretty recently, to me it still doesn't have the same dated feel as Jennifer, possibly because I've known quite a few Jennifers and have never known a Jenna. I like Jenna much more than Jennifer, because the part of Jennifer that I don't like is the "fer" ending, and Jenna obviously escapes that. I like Jenna, but even though it personally doesn't sound dated to me, based upon the statistics, I'd advise anyone who wants to escape a popular or soon-to-be dated name to avoid it.

I grew up in the eighties and nineties and never knew a Jenna close to my age. It doesn't seem dated to me at all. I like it a lot.
