Samantha
What are your thoughts on Samantha? I'm liking it right now for its soft feel. It seems feminine without being over the top like Isabella or something. It's quiet and elegant, and I like that a lot. What do you think? Any MN ideas (Hebrew and Russian preferred)?

I've never liked Samantha, and I'm not sure why. I like Sam, I like the -tha ending, and the "man" in the middle doesn't bother me a bit (I love Amanda, for example). Put them all those pieces together, though, and they create a name I really dislike. It's a case of the whole being less than the sum of its parts. I'll try to make some combos anyway.Samantha Liron

Ooh, thanks. I love Samantha Naomi, Samantha Shiri, and Samantha Yarden from the Hebrew combos, and Samantha Lidiya, Samantha Darya, and Samantha Milena from the Russian. Beautiful! Interesting case you make for the whole being less than the sum of its parts - I have kind of the opposite thought. I'm not a huge fan of "man" as a part, Sam as a girl's name is okay but not fabulous, and I like -tha as a suffix. Together, though, it seems different. Interesting how that can go in both ways. :)

I love it, but would never use it because of the possible nickname Sam. I couldn't stand for any daughter of mine to be called Sam. But Samantha is beautiful.

Thanks, I really like the combos! My favorites are Samantha Ariel, Samantha Brooke, Samantha Claire, Samantha Florence, Samantha Hope, Samantha Joy, Samantha Lucille, Samantha Noelle (couldn't use, though, my sister's MN is Noelle), Samantha Paige, Samantha Quinn, and Samantha Rachel.
