Marina
What do think of Marina? Combos? Sibling names? Sometimes if I'm bored and there's no Internet connection I put together sibsets and of all the sets, the sisters Ophelia, Marina, Alexandra, and Tatiana stayed in my mind. Wdyt?

I love Marina! It's so beautiful and, yet, largely ignored. It would be much higher on my own list if I didn't already have a Noah; I worry that Noah and Marina would just scream "boats!" in the same sibset. I despise Ophelia so much that I don't like it in any sibset, but it's Alexandra that really sticks out among the four for me. It might be a touch too solid and mainstream compared to the other three. As a substitute, I suggest Antonia and Drusilla.

I really like Marina. I love names that remind me of the ocean, so this name just sounds so elegant and peaceful to me. Some of my favorite combos are:Marina Dove
Marina Rae
Marina Clemence
Marina Verity
Marina Dorothy
Marina Willow
Marina Victoire
Marina Celeste
Marina Angele
Marina Jessamine
Marina Estelle
Marina FayeETA: I love the idea of a sibset Marina and Ronan since Ronan means "little seal"

Love it. Adore it. Marina has been on my list for at least 10 years. Our surname is Burns so I don't think I'd ever use it (sounds like the marina is on fire), however, I strongly encourage and support anyone else who is fond of it! I think Marina complements many names and certainly sounds great with the ones you've mentioned.Combos I've put together when I was serious about Marina:Marina Alexandra, Marina Alessandra
Marina Charlotte -- a fave
Marina Francesca
Marina Juliet -- ditto
Marina Joy
Marina Louisa
Marina Sophia
Marina SusannaOthers I like:Marina Catherine
Marina Gabrielle
Marina JaneBottom line: Marina complements a variety of names. It's completely universal.

Great name... sadly Ophelia and Marina are like complete mismatches to me.

I love Marina to bits. It's gorgeous, classic, and very underused. Marina, Alexandra, and Tatiana are wonderful together but I really, really hate Ophelia. Between Hamlet and "oh feel ya," it gets a big NO from me, sorry.Marina Violet
Marina Isabel
Marina Ivy
Marina Lily
Marina Lucy
Marina Hope
Marina Claire
Marina Pearl
Marina Vivian / Vivienne
Marina Olivia
Marina Lucienne
Marina Liliane
Marina Lillian
Marina Eleanor

I quite like Marina. Not a fan of Ophelia, but Alexandra and Tatiana sound nice.
1 of the things I like about Marina is that it can work in multiple cultures. 1 kanji combo possibility would be 真里菜 (truth-village-vegetable/plant).Possible names for combos:
Janelle
Carmel
Laurelle
Tamar
Roselle
Solveig (sole-vay)
Genevieve

I don't really like Marina. It makes me think of marines and a marina where you put boats and also always makes me think of Marina Oswald, though I'm probably in scarce company with that last association. I like all of the other names in your sibset, though.

Marina is my best friend's name. I think it's really pretty and I like the connection with the sea. I also like that it's not very common- I've only met two Marinas. But that could also be a burden- sometimes people don't understand her when she introduces herself. She always clarifies by saying, "like where you dock the boats" haha. Her sister's name is Emily, but I always thought they were mismatched.

I like it, but it was very popular in my generation so I'd never use it and I'm a bit tired of it.Marina sibsets I know:Marina and Jasna
Marina and Marinko (twins)
Marina and Renata
Marina and Ivana
Marina, Ivan and Kristijan And since both Marina and Tatjana were popular at the same time, I'm sure there are sisters with these names here.

My exchange student in high school was from Madrid, and was the first and only Marina I've ever known. She was/is beautiful and dear to me, so for that reason I like it, but otherwise, I actually prefer maria. Her siblings were Victor and Sergio, which I thought went well.
