Laine / Lane /Layne
WDYT? I was inspired by the post a little ways down about astronomy names. I am usually very traditional on the whole boys vs. girls thing but I think I like this on both. I like the look of the Laine spelling the most. Thoughts?

I've got a Laine niece, named after an Elaine whose school nn was Laine. She finds it a nuisance because when she's in trouble for some reason, people tend to yell for Elaine and then she ignores them and gets into more trouble! And when she started French the sheep jokes came thick and fast. She's a nice enough person, but I can't warm up to the name.
I like it. It seems like a shortened version of Elaine and that seems to give it a little more of a pedigree than other names. I can only see it on a girl.
But, I do have to tell you, I know a twenty-four-year-old woman named Layne and she says she hates her name.
I like the Laine spelling best also.
