Agnes
I've been really loving Agnes for a while now, but I suspect that it's one of those names that works better in the name nerd bubble than it does in the real world and that might it be hard to wear. I won't be having kids for a while, so maybe by the time I do that won't be the case, but I just wanted to get some insight from other people. So, what do you think of Agnes? Also, do you like Aggie or maybe even Ness as a nickname, and do you think that they might make it a bit more wearable? And if you feel inclined to give any middle name suggestions please feel free.

I love Agnes, nn Aggie or Ness (or even Nessie!). But I'm a hopeless namenerd so I might not be the right person to ask. Many times I've come across a name in real life that suddenly seems "usable." Agnes is known, so it wouldn't be that hard to pull off. Nns sweeten almost any sale. :-)Agnes Meredith
Agnes Lenore / Eleanor

Agnes Briallen (I'm loving the "g" and "b" sounds together)

I'm loving Agnes Briallen! You're right, it's something about the "g" and the "b" next to each other. What a lovely, unexpected combination. Thanks so much to everyone for responding!

It still isn't a name that I would use myself, but Agnes has grown on me, and I find Aggie to be a cute nickname. Agnes seems fresh these days. I've never met a child named Agnes.Ness works as a nickname, but I think of Vanessa and Agnessa before I think of Agnes since I usually hear the -nes part of Agnes, which isn't emphasized, pronounced [nəs].

It can work in the real world :) I used to know an Agnes (with a sister Joyce!) who would be 18 or 19 now, and I don't recall anyone ever saying anything negative about it.
I like it without a nickname but Aggie is better than Ness. Agnes Winifred and Agnes Maeve are particular favourites.

I love Agnes! At one point I would've considered using it, but found out DH doesn't like it so I gave up on that. But I still think it's really nice. It's cute, but still mature. I love Aggie as a nn, not a huge fan of Ness or Nessa. Mostly because Ness at least makes me think of the Earthbound character (or Elliot Ness), so it seems too masculine. My favorite combos with it:
Agnes Amanda - one of my favorite combos ever
Agnes Emily
Agnes Fiona
Agnes Jemima
Agnes Marjorie
Agnes Marsaili
Agnes Michaela
Agnes Pascale - love this one too
