I also prefer Candace. It does have more substance, you're right.
It feels dated to me, but I've never met a Candace that I can recall. There's nothing offensive about the name, and I wouldn't turn my nose up at it, haha, but it does have the same feel as Ashley/Brittany/etc, though it has a prettier sound.
