Adeline
If you met someone named Adeline how would you assume it was pronounced?
What is your favorite pronunciation of Adeline?
Have you ever met one? How did she pronounce it?
What do you think of Adeline? Getting too common? Too close to popular Madeline?
If you have time please vote for your pronunciation: http://www.behindthename.com/polls/list/

I'd ask.:)
I like AD-ə-line and ad-eh-LEEN, but really dislike Addle-in.
I've never met any. It's nice, if pronounced as above. I've not seen any in BAs so I wouldn't think it was too popular. (I've seen Adalyn fairly often though. Yuck.)

I've only heard Ah-dah/duh-line. I've only met one little baby girl named this, and that is how they pronounced it.
I think it is certainly less common than Madeline, but it is definitely in the same vein of Madeline, Madison, Addison, type of names that will almost inevitably be shortened to Maddie & Addie. Sorry, but I'm so sick of hearing Maddie & Addie. I'd much rather here Madeline & Adeline. :)

I'd assume it was pronounced like "add a line." I've never met one, but that's the way I've heard it in the barbershop quartet song "Sweet Adeline."
It's not my favorite Adel- variant because I think there's something whiney about it. Adeline obviously shares a lot of sounds with Madeline (and Addison), but it's not too close, imo.

I know three Madelines, none of them are called Maddie. They all pronounce it MAD-eh-linn, though.
No, AD-eh-leen. Not so fond of AD-eh-line which is probably why I'll only use it as a middle name.
Madelyn wasn't even used as a name before Madeline became common, as far as I know. It is simply a spelling variant of Madeline which is why I think most people pronounce Madeline MAD-eh-linn. I've never heard MAD-eh-line in real life and I've met many. There's also an actress named this who pronounces it MAD-eh-linn. She was born in the mid 80s.
Haha I would never use Madeline or Adeline as first names even though I love them. No Emmeline either. Just too many pronunciation troubles. I heard even Caroline is commonly pronounced LINN in some places. I only heard Caroline and Emmeline as LINE and Madeline as LINN :P
