Carlotta is pretty. I like it a lot.
It's my dearest friend's name!So I like it for that.
Interestingly enough, she's not of Spanish or Mexican heritage, which might come to mind. She's British Isles/French Canadian. Her mother "got the name out of a book".(a novel, that's to say, not a name book.)

Gosh no, Carlotta is way more awesome than Carla or Carlene. Carla is pretty ordinary and a bit boring. I guess I just grew up with quite a few in the 80s. Carlene sounds like a funkified Darlene, and not really in a good way. Carlotta is really pretty! The class of Charlotte without ryhimg with harlot. Some good nickname options: Carlie, Lottie. Yeah, I like Carlotta. Thanks for bringing her up!
I was just thinking about this name, because I ran across it the other day. It's definitely a fun name. I've never met a Carlotta though. It seems to have had its day in the US several generations ago.
Practically speaking I like Carla and Carly much better, but Carlotta would be fun to use in a story.
