When my daughter was 6 months old, I completely changed her first name from something completely made up to Violet. People gave me a hard time, but now she's 6 and it's as if it never happened.

I have tried to change my name (Kayla) twice and it failed miserably. People thought I was silly and would use it as a conversational piece whenever they could. Most importantly, I just didn't like the new name either. I am now embracing the history behind it (my history).
