It's not a fave, but I like it.
I like it. It's pleasing to my eyes and ears. It's too popular for my liking, but in all, I think it's a good name.
It's the name of my least favorite person in the world, but abstractly I rather like it.
Don't remember samantha smith, no

My first thoughts go to Samantha Parkington of the American Girl books & dolls fame, that I loved as a kid in the 90s. While not my favorite of the American Girls, I have positive connotations towards the name. However, it currently feels a bit 80s/90s dated to me.
I don't like Samantha. First, I'm bothered by the 'man' right there in the middle of it, especially since the stress is placed on that syllable. Also, I don't like the nickname Sam for a girl.
I tend not to like Allison, Madison, Addison... because I see 'son' in it, as well.
It's nice, but a bit dated. I've no idea who Samantha Smith is. I tend to think more of the Kim Catrall character in Sex and the City
Weird, I don't remember Samantha Smith. I should - but I was just a kid myself. She was born the year after I was.
I think it's a nice name. Still usable. I get a slightly matronly vibe from it, likely because of watching Bewitched reruns in my childhood. But I think it suits any age.

I've never liked Samantha. I'm not sure why, since I like Sam well enough. Something about Samantha is too slippery and lispy maybe. I'm always surprised that Samantha is still so popular. I feel like I never meet one who's under age 20.
I don't consciously remember Samantha Smith at all, but I think she must have made an impression on me. I have some sort of mental block about this early-80s movie, "Savannah Smiles," where I'm constantly flubbing the title into Samantha Smith, Samantha Smiles, or Samantha Smith Smiles. I guess now I know why. Weird.

I remember hearing about her at the time. She had her fifteen minutes, I guess.
As for the name...it's all right. Nothing special about it. The combo Samantha Smith is awful, so lispy like she'd be spitting all over people everytime she introduced herself.

I like it OK. Doesn't knock my socks off. I don't care for the nick name Sam so I wouldn't use it most likely.
I love this name, but can't abide the thought of a girl being called Sam, so that's why I would never use it. People can say all they want that the nickname is not inevitable, and I'm sure it's not, but even the barest possibility is too much for me.
Yes, I remember Samantha Smith. I remember when she died. Very sad. I didn't like the way that her parents allowed the Soviet Union to use her. They were getting some fame from it, so that made it okay, am I right? It also led indirectly to her death, because if she'd never gained fame from her Soviet Union visit, then she never would have been offered a part in the TV series "Lime Street", and then she wouldn't be coming back from England where she'd gone to film it, and wouldn't have been on that plane. She was just an innocent kid writing an innocent letter, but responsible adults should have quashed that thing.

Yes....My daughters were the same age as Samantha Smith and idolized her, had the book about her. She lived not too far from where we did, and the outcome of the whole thing was very sobering.....
