Vivien
My daughter recently said that if she ever has a girl, she's strongly considering naming her Vivien. I love this name. What do you think of Vivien? She is set on this spelling, and it's the one that I like the most also, but do any of you prefer Vivian or Vivienne?

I quite enjoy the name, and hugely prefer Vivien to the other spellings. Not a fan of Viv, though.

It's a decent name, though I prefer the other 2 spellings.

I don't mind Vivien. Viv is a cute nickname. Or Vivi for that matter, I'd probably choose Vivian, but it's no big deal. Vivienne annoys me for some reason. It's kind of prissy and flightly looking.

I prefer Vivien. I think it's a good name, and it's the right time for it.I think Vivian is almost too masculine for a woman (but not really). Vivian is totally unisex to me. Vivien looks less stern - the e gives it some feminine vanity and the right amount of quirk. Either way though, it's a rather bold, dominant, and even severe sounding name in real life - at least that is my impression of how it mis-fits the friendly, goofy young Vivian that I know.

It's great. Vivien would be the version I'd pick, but I do also like Viviane.

I do prefer Vivian over Vivien, probably because it was the only spelling I knew growing up. I pronounce the last syllable closer to "un" than "en", though. The Vivien spelling always looks a bit odd to me, but I don't mind it. Makes sense if "en" is the desired sound. I stress the first syllable for both of these.Vivienne is very nice, but I stress the last syllable when I say it and tend to prefer it as a middle name.

I like Vivien. I prefer Vivian, but I also like Vivien and Vivienne. I prefer Vivian because it looks more feminine to me.

I love it, and Vivien is my preferred spelling too. Vivian would be my second choice. For me, the Vivienne spelling really changes the pronunciation--so the emphasis is on the ENNE, not the VIV--and once I do that, I no longer like the name. Vivien, no matter the spelling, is a worthy successor to Lillian. Between that and Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, I'll be curious to see how high Vivien will climb over the next decade.

I want to like it but I just can't get around the slithery nylony sound of it. I am unable to like Olivia for the same reason, and Lillian to a lesser degree.

Vivian is my preferred spelling, but I also like Vivien and Vivienne. Vivien looks masculine to me due to -en being a masculine name ending in French, but I still like the name, and being a Vivien Leigh fan helps as well. The name is lovely, but I'm hoping that it won't become incredibly popular.

Vivien is a masculine spelling in France. I'd go with Vivienne. It's a pretty name.

I love Vivien, and this is my favorite spelling. It's somehow more sultry and mystical than Vivian, whose original use as a masculine name now clouds its modern use as a feminine name for me.

I adore this name and spelling - the -an version is masculine to me and the -ienne version too fancy. Vivien is classy and beautiful. Added bonus: the lovely Vivien Leigh.
