Cyan
What do you think of Cyan? Boy or girl? Would it work in real life? I pronounce it SY-an.

It says it's only feminine but I think it could work either way. At one point this was one of my favorite name but I'm starting to grow out of it.

hmmm... not sure on this one... It's kinda pretty... similar in sound to Cheyanne / Cheyenne without being a random tribal name and I could only really see it on a girl... it might work... Some other colours work in various languages... and w/ this being in the name file, I suspect it's at least been used enough to get some attention... Definitely nicer than Shore. Could call a kid Sandy though... That could go on either gender and is recognizable as a name even if your motive behind it is different than its typical meaning.

I pronounce it the way you do, and I prefer it on a boy. It's a nice name, and it can totally work in real life.

I'm not a big fan of it, really, the sound just isn't attractive to me. There was a girl named Cyan on the Price is Right (an American T.V. show that we watch when we eat breakfast before goign to work), and my boyfriend said, "Cyan, that's a color, right?"So... I don't know, that pretty much sums up how I feel about the name, although there are a lot of "word" names that are quite popular and no one even gives them a second thought. However, I do see it more for a boy... oddly enough.

Makes me think geek-chic, because the color is so associated with digital stuff.
Also sounds like sighin'. Those are the main reasons I don't like it. I like nn Cy.But generally not a bad name, just sort of eccentric - I think it's about as eccentric as River, which isn't too eccentric for me.

It's a color (and not a very nice one imo) and it makes me think of CMYK, which is the color model for printing. I don't really care for it. No preference as to what gender it belongs on.

I've liked it ever since the first time I played Final Fantasy III when I was like 7. My favorite video game of all time, and while not my favorite character, a fun one. So the name has significance for me because of that. I'm not a huge fan of the color otherwise. I like the sound of it and it seems 100% masculine to me. Possibly because of my strong association with the video game dude. But since it's a color and ends with "anne," I wouldn't be shocked to hear of it on a female either.

Though I would prefer it on a male, I've actually encountered a woman named Cyan. It didn't sound bizarre at all, actually.
