Skeeter!
I watched The Help yesterday and the main character was named Skeeter, used on a girl. So WDTY? Combos? Nicknames? Mascaline or feminine or both?

It was a nickname. :-DAnd as a nickname, it's great. As a name, it's ridiculous.

Actor, Skeet Ulrich took his stage name from his childhood nickname, Skeeter, from mosquito and later shortened to Skeet. I think is real given name is Brian, if I remember correctly. Skeeter, as a nickname, feels much more masculine to me than feminine, but there are female mosquitoes and I suppose they are "skeeters" too.

Feminine. I think of:The Muppet Babies - Scooter had a sister named Skeeter on that show.
Rita Skeeter from Harry Potter
Skeeter Davis, whose real name was Mary Frances Penick, a country singer of the 40s

My dad had a male employee named Skeeter. That was his real name. My mom, who was the bookkeeper, had to make sure for paycheck and tax purposes. I also think of Rita Skeeter from Harry Potter. Or slang for mosquito.

Skeeter from Doug.To quote Urban Dictionary..."Though thought to be blue, Skeeter Valentine was indeed black. The only man who could beat box, brake dance, and wear MC Hammer pants in a cartoon show through the early - mid 90's. The only other blue-violet colored person on the show, "Bee Bee", was Skeeter's girlfriend at a point, and she was so black she was purple, thus making her Haitian. "Doug: Man I don't know how to dance. Skeeter: Let me show you Doug *dances*

Doug: Am I doing it right now? Skeeter: Nope. HEH HEH! Doug: Why can you dance and I can't? Skeeter: Because I'm black."
Still think this is a good nickname?

In the movie the character's real first name was Eugenia. I think Skeeter definitely works better as just a nickname.

Skeeter wasn't even a related or pick nickname, her older brother said she looked like a 'skeeter', meaning a mosquito and the name stuck. Her mother doesn't like to use the name Skeeter to refer to her daughter.
