I like the sound of it, though the meaning doesn't grab me so much. It's been rather overused in recent years, but I can otherwise see the appeal of it.

It is a very common name (in the top 10 in at least 7 countries according to the database) which bothers some people, but if that doesn't bother you then it's a good choice.

The positives about having a very popular name is that people will always know how to spell and pronounce it.

I like Emily and I think it's a modern classic. However, I would never use it because it was the number one name in the US for so many years. I have met all types of Emilys and it's one of those names where when I hear, "Hi, I'm Emily," I don't even stop to consider the name because it's so expected and common.

I think Emily is pretty much the most perfect girl's name there is. The one massive problem is that too many people agree with me and it is wayyyyyy too popular. I doubt I will ever use it as a fn because of its popularity but it is my favourite girl's name of all time.
