The only other nn he will tolerate (he's 6) is Donnie, and only I can call him that. :0)

After Don and Donnie, Van is probably the most intuitive nickname.

I like Donovan best in full, though, with no nickname at all.

I know of a few Donovans. One is called "DonDon," another is "Dono" (said "don-O") and another is "Dove," as in "Dove into the water," which sometimes morphs into Dovey".

Van would work. There are also Vanny, Donny, and Dono / Donno.

I know a Donovan who gets called "D".
