Re: WDYTO Stephanie?

I prefer Stephen for a boy; though a friend named his daughter Stephanie because, in his words, "it's the most feminine name in the world". Hmmm. I hear it as too close to Tiffany for comfort.
I also know a Staffordshire terrier named Stephanie but usually known as Steffie the Staffie.
Stephanie seems dated, but it's got a good rhythm, like Emily, Dorothy, Coralie etc. My concern with that kind of name is that it always suggests that the parents would actually have liked a boy named Stephen. (I was at school with a largeish sibset: Stephanie, Paula, Janet and Jeffrey (twins) and finally Josephine.)
