Re: Jane

Anna Jane is pretty! I know a Jane-Ann who's in her 60s or even 70s.
Mary Jane has two conflicting associations: the sensible shoes and the dope. I'd like it more without them.
Jayne is sad and misguided, like gilding refined gold and painting lilies. Jane has dignity, energy and cheerfulness.
Trouble with Jane is, first of all it's been a default mn since mns began, and also it actually rhymes with 'plain'. "Plain Jane and no nonsense", my elderly relatives used to say about women they approved of for getting on with the job and not complaining. But I'd use Jane happily for its retro charm.
