Mae
I've been really liking Mae for a girl lately. Just Mae. What do you think of it? I'm having trouble pairing middle names with it. Any reccomendations? And do you prefer Mae or May? Previously I had preferred May, but I think I've shifted more toward Mae.
Also, the database has Mae being used as a boys' in France. Does anyone have any details on that? I don't think I'd use it on a boy, but I'm really curious about that.

I like May it's short and sweet and simple in a good way. I definitely prefer the Y spelling. The AE one looks really awkward to me.
I like Mae. I like how simple it is and the way the "ae" looks. So refreshing and spunky. I used to prefer May too but then I met someone whose last name was May and I'm over its charms now. Also I like that Mae makes me think of the 20's and therefore has more fire and glitz. May is a little more nicey-nice and genteel.
You're right, it is hard to combo. My attempts:
Mae Heloise, Mae Eloise
Mae Clementine (rural kitsch overload but I can't resist)
Mae Frida
Mae Miriam
Mae Belinda (also sounds like "Mabel Linda" - fun)
Mae Alice
Mae Amity
Mae Amice
Mae Annemarie
Mae Louise
Mae Adele, Mae Adelle (I like how this flows together)
Mae Annabelle, Mae Annabeth
Mae Cecile

I love it, too. It's so sweet and to the point. Unfortunately I don't have any good Mae combos. It's a really hard one to pair without using something that's too easy (like Mae Elizabeth or something). I go back and forth on preferring Mae or May, too. It depends on if I'm in the mood for a springy name or an elegent, soothing name, I guess. And I also think it would be fun to write your name if it were Mae. All two little loopies after the M.
URGH I don't know why it keeps using my username in not my posting name!

Yeah, this is frustrating.
I didn't notice it switched back after the first time I corrected it this morning until reading your post here. Then I had to go fix the last two posts I did... yarg. Hopefully this is corrected soon!

It's cute. I know a little Mae :)
My middle name is May, which I think is a little more practical but less sweet/cute (although both are in the sweet and cute category).
I think I still prefer May, but both are fine. I'd like combos like...
Mae Rosalind
Mae Jennabeth
Mae Elysia
Mae Elisea
Mae Oceane
Mae Eponine
Mae Charlotte
Mae Chiara
Mae Elisabeth
Mae Elspeth
Mae Junia
Mae Primrose
Mae Sarah
Mae Catrine

I really like Mae/May/Mai names!
Maé is a unisex name in France and is very popular for both right now but moreso for boys. In 2009 301 girls and 348 boys were given the name Mae. I prefer Mae over May but if I lived in France right now and liked the name Mae/May I would probably consider Maï (which means May and is a female name) and sounds somewhat similar. I included links for you to listen to French pronunciations if you like.
