Alexa

I like Alexa. It's simpler than Alexandra and a lot less tired than Alexis. More feminine than Alexis, too, of course. I'd call Alexa stylish, common, and trendy (but not in a bad way). There are just so many Alexandras, Alexas, Alexises, and Alexandrias, plus a ton of Alexanders for boys, and far too many girls just named Lexi, and a bunch of boys and girls just named Alex. They all seem to share the same couple nicknames, too, usually Lexi and Ali for girls, Alex for both boys and girls, and Xander/Zander for boys...it's kind of exhausting.
One of my coworkers has an Alexa who is around 13 or so. She goes by Lexi exclusively, though. I've also heard of several young Alexas in my son's preschool and elementary school, but I don't know any of them well.
My favorite Alex- name is Alexander. For a girl, I'd pick Alexandra because it's my mom's middle name. Without that association, it might be Alexa. My favorite nicknames are Alex and Sandy. I hate Lexi with such intensity, I won't seriously consider any Alex- name for a daughter of mine. I'd never use it, but I'd die inside a little if she chose it as her own nickname when she was older.

Hahaha I share your thoughts about Lexi. I was really surprised (not in a good way) that Lexi and I think Lexie? made the top 100 in Britain. It sounds like "sexy". Ugh. I dislike Alex and Alexandra because of really bad personal associations. Otherwise I might like them. I would never call her by a nickname but of course if she wanted to go by Lexi there's nothing I could do.
Well, I like the name Alexa. I think it holds all the substance of Alexandra but is less of a mouthful. I don't consider it to be trendy. Lexi is definitely trendy, but Alexa has the same feeling as Alex for me. Apparently, it is fairly popular, but personally, I've only ever known one Alexa. I knew one Alexandra in high school, an Alexander from kindergarten, and one Alexandria from soccer.
I think nicknames are avoidable with Alexa. It's short enough. I have a (female) cousin named Alex (just Alex), and her name never gets shortened. That's why her parents named her Alex and not Alexandra; they hate nicknames.
My favourite Alex name would probably be Alexandre. I also like Alexis (for a boy) and Alexandrine. My favourite nn would definitely be Sacha. Sandra and Sandy are both cute names too though.

I'd say Alexa is post-trendy. I don't think tons of people are naming their daughter Alexa currently but 5-10+ years ago, yeah. Sorry, but I think Alexa is a pretty bad name. It's just so insubstantial, frilly, unintelligent, and consumeristic feeling to me. I don't think I've ever met any Alexas before, at least as their full name.
The only feminine Alex- name I like is Alexandra.

I do think it's too trendy. I'm not a huge fan of it. I'm not a fan of Alex names really. I prefer the softer Alessa, Alessia and Alessandra.
Yes.
Yes, it is too common and trendy. It's boring and way too late-90s, early 2000s. It'll be super dated in a few years, like most "stylish" names. I just can't get behind it.
My favorite Alex- name is good old Alexandra. I also kinda sorta like Alexandria, but it seems like a bit too much.

I don't like it very much. It's better than Alexis, but I think it's too trendy/popular and probably too common. I know a few, at least 2 that go by Lexi.
I like Alexandria and Alexandra.
