I like Russell. It is a little dated, I guess, but I think it's dated in a cool retro way, like Dean or Gregory. Anyway, I think of the little kid from Up now, and I wonder if that will make it feel younger.

Russell is on my PNL. I really like Russ. I guess it could seem dated, but for me that might be part of the appeal.

that doesn't think this is dated? I like Russell a lot. I think it's a down-to-earth name that works well on any age.

My sister loves it. I think it has a cuddly cozy feel to it. It's a name for an adorable rambunctious boy who loves to play outside.

I don't really find it dated. I know a Russell who is 20 now, and there's Russell Brand and Russell Howard who are 36 and 31 respectively. I quite like it, but I do slightly dislike the similarity to the word "rustle"!

I like Russell alot. It makes me think of a sporty guy who likes to have a laugh and a few beers down the pub on a saturday afternoon

You're right, I don't think I've ever seen it discussed here either. That could be because it's one of those genericly dated names. It's not really traditional, and it just sort of blends in. I kind of like it. It has a nice woodsy, country thing going on. My only concern is I tend to go too overboard with that and it feels unintelligent, but I can make myself avoid thinking of it that way. One Russell I went to school with wasn't like that, he was a sort of smart, witty person, so I prefer to take Russell that direction.

It seems claustrophobic to me, like being stuck in a big maroon coat. It also seems very southern good-ol-boy, like Carter or Landon but dated earlier. Not my style, but I could see how it would be cool.

I know a few Russells. One is my age, a huge pill, and goes by Russ, which works well I think. One is my old band director, who goes by Rusty. He might should go by Dopey instead. In any case we called him Doc - NOT the right dwarf name for him
