Antigone
Antigone has been on my mind lately. What do you think of it? I think it would be poignant for a baby girl who had difficulties at birth but made it through. Nicknames could be Annie or Tiggie, and I like the combo Antigone Jane.

This is a name my dh and I were seriously considering once. My father's nn for me when I was young was Tiggers and so I always had a thing for the name Antigone, nn Tiggers. I mentioned it to my dh who liked Antigone. When I told him the Greek story had absolutely fell in love with it. The idea of a dd named afte a woman who defied society to honor a loved one melted his heart. Plus, we both love names from mythology.Antigone Jane is nice. Jane grounds Antigone. The nns Annie and Tiggie are super-cute. By the way, "tig" means house in Irish. Just a tidbit.

I like it. It has a kind of steely-eyed determination I admire. Also I love how whenever I see it, my brain shouts "ANTI-GONE!!" in the voice of Billy Mays, like a bad commercial for spot-remover. Tiggie is supercute.

I like it, and I would totally call her Tiggie.I don't care for Antigone Jane, just because Jane feels like a letdown after such a dramatic first name. Something Greek would sound better, like...Antigone Despina
Antigone Filippa
Antigone Selene
Antigone Tasia
Antigone Xenia
Antigone Zoe

I was going for something a little more down-to-earth to ground the fanciful Antigone, but I can see how it could feel disjointed. I really like Antigone Filippa.
