Annie
I love the name Annie, but what would it be short for? Or would you just have it as a FN?

I like it too. I'd probably use it with Angharad or Anwen or Annest.

Annie is what my sister is called. Her middle name is Ann. I love it, and I think it works really well as a nickname on both children and grown women, but it's too insubstantial, in my opinion, to stand on its own as a first name. Here are some ideas for Annie's full name.
Ann (or anything with the middle name Ann)
Antonia
Antigone (a pet name of mine lately)
Frances (so much nicer than Franny)
Annika
Annora
Bethany
Brianne
Calanthe
Cheyenne
Diana
Gillian
Hannah
Johanna
Leanne
Liana
Rhiannon
Savannah
Susannah
Vivian

I love Annie too, but I don't love any of the longer names. Anneliese is pretty. I wouldn't use Annie as a full name, it's too nicknamey for me, so I suppose it would be Anneliese "Annie"

I think Annie can work as a full name, but it's also nice as a nn for Annabelle, Annabella and Annabeth.

My name is Anna, but I've been called Annie a few times and I rather like it. I don't think it needs to be short for anything, it's very sweet and sounds young, but not so much that it doesn't sound professional.

Annie's my favorite name! I love it as short for Susannah, Anna, or Anne.

I think pretty much any An- name could have the nn Annie. I personally like the idea of Andromeda nn Annie.http://www.behindthename.com/php/search.php?nmd=n&terms=an*

Annie is so sweet. I don't like it on its own, but I think you'd have to search hard to find a more sunshine-filled nickname. Anne is one of my favorite names, so I'd use that, but I also like Anna, Annabeth, and Marianne. I think it's cute for Susan and Susanna, too, and would be a good Angie alternative to any Ang- name. From your Annie list below, my favorite is Annie Florence. Very cute.

I love it, but since I prefer formal names to fall back on I'd use it as a nn for Annabel - or possibly Anthea

Aw.My name is Ann. Strangely, no one used Annie as a nn for me until I met my dh in my 30's. He asked if anyone else ever called me that. When I said no, he said, "Good. Because I want to be the only one to call you that." It was my first indication that he was serious. My heart still flutters at the memory. That said, I do find Annie to be too nn-y to stand on its own. But then again I'm biased. Formal name options:Ann / Anne / Anna / Hannah / Anouk / Anais / Annette / Annika / Annemarie / Annabel / Anya / Anneliese / Annelie / Annalee / Hannelore / Grace / Graciela, Antonia / Antonina / Antonella / Antoinette, Andromeda, Andrea, Angela / Angelica / Angelina / Angel, Anjou, Alexandra / Alexandrine / Sandrine / Alessandra / Alejandra, Cassandra, Lysandra, Leandra, Xanthe, Iolanthe, Xanthippe,

My mother's name is Ann, and some people call her Annie. It could be short for...Annabelle/Annabel
Anna
Annora
Angela
Angelina
Angelica
Antonia...and any other An- name you can think of.I think it stands on its own just fine, though. It's a nickname, sure, but I know a lot of people who have nicknames as full names, and they seem fine with it.

I have a beautiful great-great-aunt Annie Keturah on my family tree. She was so pretty, and her sons were also beautiful. Very positive association for me.

mns...wdyt?Annie Maria
Annie Violet
Annie Iris
Annie Jemima
Annie Rose
Annie Guinevere
Annie Esme
Annie Florencethese all seem a bit predictable though...

Oh, not Annie Jemima. There's no need to increase the "Aunt Jemima" factor, assuming you're in the U.S. If not, please ignore. Annie Florence is speaking to me most from the list after that. It has heft.

Annie is growing on me too :) I myself like it as a nicknname, but I think Annie can be used in full. I went to school with an Annie and I never recall wondering if Annie was short for something.

That's my name! :DI'm Annie! It's just my full name, not short for anything. I'm pretty happy with it, I think. The only issue I have is that people are CONSTANTLY calling me Anne or Anna, and that gets annoying.I also knew an Anneliese nn Annie, and I love that, too.

No way! ;)

I went to school with a girl named Annie (full name) and I think it works well on its own.
