Mattea
What do you think of the name Mattea? pronounced "ma-tay-a" I love the sound of it and that it's a form of the more traditional Matthew. I think it's different without being completely unheard of and I just love saying it out loud. I also like that the nicknames Matt, Mattie, Tay, or Tea (tay-a) can be used with it as well. My only worry is that not everyone would be able to pronounce it or spell it properly. What do you think? Too difficult for the American public to understand while going through life with this name?
Some combos I like are: Mattea Emily, Mattea Jennifer, Mattea Emilia, (for my mom and sister). What do you think of these combos? Any other combos?
Any opinions would be helpful! Thanks!

My top girls name!
Oh yay!! I love Mattea. I've liked Taya for a while and when friends named their son Matteo a year and a half ago, I discovered Mattea and it's been number one ever since. My husband was a little reluctant at first, but it is now our top girl's name, should we ever need one. I love all the nicknames your mentioned and I think that most people would guess the right pronunciation (or quickly learn it once told).
I love Amelia, so Mattea Emilia caught my eye, but I think the endings are a little too similar. My favourite MAttea combos right now:
Mattea Gabrielle
Mattea June
Mattea Bryn
Great name!

I love Mattea. It has the feel of a name on the cusp of being discovered by the general public. It reminds me of Mireia / Mireya, another name I wonder hasn't caught on more.
Sylvie Mattea / Mattea Sylvie is my stock combination for it. But from yours I really, really like Mattea Emilia -- what a lovey combo.

I love this name, it's one of my new favorites. Given that there are so many people from different countries using foreign names living in the US, I think Mattea would be relatively simple to understand and pronounce. It is so beautiful. I also like all your combos, but expect most posters won't like Jennifer. (too dated, they'll say) Good going!
