Octavie/Octavien
A friend of mine is due on the 8th of Jan and is considering Octavie or Octavien/Octavius (if its a boy) they decided to be surprised. What do you think of this name? I've never thought much about it but I like it

One of my great-grandmother's middle names was Octavie (am guessing for St Octave, as she was born on his nameday). I've never seen it in use on a live person!- so it's interesting, but I'm not really a fan of it, or Octavia. Octavien is okay.
Did they choose these names because they're due on the 8th?
I don't mind Octavie but I find Octavian a little pretentious sounding to be honest.

Yeah I think she liked Octavie and decided since she's due on the 8th why not
Does that mean if it's early or late, they'll choose another name. Or would they just go with Octavie/Octavian anyway?
I don't think that many babies are actually born on their due date.

I'm not sure I was wondering the same thing. Maybe if they love it enough they will use it regardless? I'll have to ask
I think they're over the top.
I don't think so, it fits their culture, language and social status do I quite like it.
I like Octavian best, although I also like Octavien and Octavius. I think Octavien is a bit more usable.
I've never really thought about Octavie, because I've always thought only about Octavia. I guess I like Octavie too. It sounds like it would work better for a young person than Octavia would.
I wonder if people think it's weird to name a kid Octavie/Octavia/Octavien/Octavian/Octavius/etc. when they're not the 8th kid? I don't think it really matters today, but there was probably a time when it did. And nobody would name their third son Secundus, for instance...
