Lola is quite popular in the UK (#33 last year) because of a kids' TV series, so it seems like a fairly ordinary, pleasant name to me. I know of several Lolas under 5. I don't know anyone called Dolores, so it doesn't remind me of it at all.

For me, Lola and Una/Oona fall in the same category. Silly sounding. Like something you might name a clown. Lola would be fine as a nickname. It most definitely doesn't remind me of Dolores. But now that you bring that up, Lola as a nn for Dolores wouldn't be absurd at all.

Lola is okay. It reminds me of The Kinks song. It doesn't remind me of Dolores.

I don't think of Dolores at all. I like Lola but it's a slang term here meaning 'slut' and other variants. And it reminds me of Lolita and the story behind that... so I would never dare use it, probably not even for a story, but I still think it sounds rather okay.
