Fern?
So what do you think of Fern? I know a lot of people think it's hickish. I actually really like it, it has a very soft sound I love.
Thanks!

I actually really like this name. I've never met anyone named Fern and I actually wonder why it isn't popular, since there are a lot of flower/botanical names in use.
I LOVE it but prefer spelled Ferne (the French in me prefers the "e" on the end when there's a choice)
Ferne Delilah is a favorite combo of mine and I love how delightfully "hickish" it is!

Thanks so much everybody!
I really do love Fern, now I just need to come up with middle names!
Does anybody like any of these?
Fern Catherine
Fern Abigail/Fern Abby
Fern Erica
All of these have meaning to me.

I like Fern Catherine!
Fern Abby (or Fern Abbey) is also appealing.
I'm trying to decide about Fern Abigail. I think I like it.
Erica is too blunt for Fern, I think. Plus E and F are very similar-looking.

Fern Abigail has a nice flow, but I prefer Erica to Abigail, so I'd go with Fern Erica. Both are pretty combos, though.
I like the plant and the soft sound. The only thing I don't like about it is the whiny, wimpy character from Charlotte's Web...
I used to be indifferent to it, but now it looks a little odd to me because it's a common German word. But other than that, it does have a nice, soft sound and I don't think it sounds hickish. The first thought I have when I see it, apart from the German word, is the little girl in Charlotte's Web.
I like it. I don't find it hickish at all. The only Fern I've known wasn't hickish, and even before I met a Fern, I didn't think of it that way.
Fern isn't overly popular, and it sounds soft without being flimsy or saccharine sweet. It's a good choice for someone who wants a no frills name that isn't overused.

I love Fern. A few months ago it became one of my favorite plant names. I doubt I'll ever use this name but I like to encourage others to. :)

I don't think it's hickish at all! It's beautiful. I love the sound as well, and of course I love the plant, which is lovely.
Due to a wonderful person I know named Fern, I have come to appreciate the name. I probably wouldn't use it myself, but it seems delightful!
I love it! One of my short favourites nm

Oh, I love Fern! It's so soft and shadowy, cool and quiet.
It does seem to be all hick or hipster, though, doesn't it? Since I'm neither, I worry any daughter of mine would feel awkward as a Fern, and I'm not brave enough to use it. I'm saving it for a pet or a new iPod.

I like it a lot. Wren seems to be experiencing a bit of a surge within the name nerd community, and Fern feels very similar, at least to me. Actually, I would venture to say that Fern felt a bit more legitimate to me than Wren does.
It feels sort of British to me more so than hickish, I guess because associate it with Fearne Cotton.

My Fern
Fern is one of my faves. It symbolizes kindness to me because of a gift I once recieved of a pressed fern leaf. I love it so much I don't know if I could even bear to use it on a real child.
