Pearl
Whether you like it or not, would it be refreshing to meet a baby/young person named Pearl? Or do you think this name would be really out of place unless it were on an elderly woman? WDYT?Names like Violet and Hazel are back in style, so why not Pearl?

I'd love to meet a baby girl named Pearl! I think it's a very pretty name and agree that if other names of it's era are back in style, why can't Pearl be the same?

Oh, I love Pearl! I think it's because of the Scarlet Letter.. I don't know.

Nope... not refreshing at ALL. It's one of those names that I hear for a baby and think "poor kid" because as pretty as pearls themselves may be, the word name is far from pretty. Violet and Hazel are actually kinda nice-sounding. Pearl is kinda ugly and frumpy-sounding. That's why not Pearl. It's one of those "BtN darlings" that I have never understood the appeal of. There are names that mean pearl (like Margo or Shinju) that are pleasant sounding though.

Yeah I don't get why Pearl hasn't made much of a comeback. It feels old-fashioned without being horrendously dated. I would love to meet a little girl named Pearl.

I love Pearl (and Perla)! So sweet without too much frill. I actually just met a Frances Pearl who was in her late 20's not too long ago.ETA: I prefer Pearl on a girl, but Perlo would be very nice to see on a boy.

I think Pearl would be refreshing on a young girl. I like it better than Violet or Hazel.

I adore Pearl, and I would rejoice if I met a young person with the name! It's entirely usable in my mind.

Pearl is fine, but i think Ruby and Amber are more my taste. as far as gemstone names go there is also the name Sapphira to consider ( a variation of sapphire). and the name Sapphira is credible because it can be found in the bible.

I like it. It makes me think of a cute little girl. I used to think it was a little too wishy-washy and bland, but The Scarlet Letter changed that, and now I can envision a Pearl with a lot of personality.

I would find it refreshing. For some reason I thought Pearl was coming back into style as well. But it isn't yet. It might soon. It has risen slightly in popularity the past 5 or so years. I hear it semi often as a middle name. I think Pearl is great on a little girl or an adult. Also Violet was never very popular in the past. Viola was way more popular. Violet is almost as popular as it was in it's peak days so many many years ago. Viola for some reason just like Pearl is not popular yet.I love Hazel and Pearl. Violet and Viola are pretty good. Ruby is also pretty good. But I prefer Pearl and Hazel. Truthfully I care very much for all of these. In the Sims I use to have a set of twin girls whose names were Ruby and Pearl. I always thought that it was a great sibset, even if it is a bit cutesy.

It's a sweet, refreshing name that sounds strong rather than cutesy and fussy. I've encountered a little girl named Pearl, so I can easily imagine a child with this name. I find it much more pleasing than Hazel as far as sound goes.

I think it would be refreshing. It's a cuter name than Hazel.
