I like both Alice and Alison, but I think I'd go with Allison (with this spelling). Alison is decent, but Allison looks more balanced to me.

AlisonAlice, having been hardly used as a baby name for 40 years, seems too crystallized, too image-loaded. It's like Mary, in my mind. Alice in Wonderland, so arch and antique. Alice from the Brady Bunch, matronly and dowdy. Alice the waitress from the TV show. Go Ask Alice. Alice Cooper. It's so 20th century. Alison still seems fresher and more versatile to me, as it's fairly frequent on women and girls of all ages. And it has kept a fairly polished image where I live, since it was never extremely popular. I'd much rather be named Alison if I were born today.

Alice no contest at all

AliceI think it is sweet and simple and it's one of my favourite names. I don't like the "son" part of Alison, as it's a little masculine sounding, and I also feel that Alison is dated while Alice is quite classic.

AliceI know two women named Alice and they are just about some of the nicest women I have ever met.Alison on the other hand... bad associations

Alice. Alison sounds dated to me.

Alice for meI've never actually met an Alice in real life so it's quite exotic for me

I like both, but I prefer Alice.

I like both, but Alice is a classic, so I'll go with her. Besides, one of the most memorable protagonists in children's literature is tied to the name. That's a plus.

you know what's prettier than Alice? the name Elise (pronounced Eh-leeese). and as for Allison, i think it was trendy a few years back but Madison took it's place. i think Madison is the modern version of it. i also think that the name Jenna is the modern version of Jennifer.

I don't know, I mean Allison has been in the top 200 since the early 60s but has also never been in the top twenty, whereas Madison only leapt onto the scene in 1985 and has been in the top 20 for the past 15 years. I just wouldn't consider Allison nearly as trendy as Madison

I like both but Alice seems fresher at the moment. I love this spelling of Alison, though.

Oh, I love boy. Alice is so classic, pretty, and lovely, but I have a lot of fantastic associations with Alison. It's a really difficult choice for me.I think I'd pick Alison right now, but tomorrow it could be Alice instead.

Alice!I do like Alison, but not as much as I love Alice...I know a lot of Alisons, but I've never met an Alice.

AlisonI know an abrasive, unlikeable Alice that makes it hard for me to appreciate the name. I think Alison is pretty and pleasant besides.

I like both. Alison is a little more mature and practical, but it's also a little more dated. Alice has a sweeter sound, and it's more Alice-in-Wonderland. I don't think I'd use either-- I'd be afraid of the datnedness and common-ness of Alison (although really Alison is fine; Allison and Allyson are the dated ones) and I wouldn't really want to use such a sweet little-girly name like Alice IRL. I think I might slightly prefer Alice in theory though.

I used to love Alice. At the moment I'm not that fond of it. I don't know why, it just doesn't bring up the lovely Alice in Wonderland image anymore but rather that of Alice Cooper. It's still nice but not on my list anymore.Alison I used to hate with a passion. But it has grown on me a lot. Also I think it is getting less common. I love Ally as a nickname. I just really dislike the Allison spelling.Difficult choice but I guess Alison. I wouldn't use either at the moment, though.
