I adore Morag. And I don't think you'd have as many problems naming a little girl Morag in England as you would in the States. Methinks you could get away with it.

Morag to me (note that I'm American) looks lovely written down, but harsh when spoken. The -rag ending deters me from liking it, too.

I really love it! Maybe because I grew up with the picture bools about Katie Morag. Would be nice if you could read the picture books to her and say: hey, look, her name is the same as your's!
I don't think living in England should make a difference if you like the name.

I dont really know much about names in Scottland or England, I know that many seem to be named Catherine. But i dont really like Morag that much because it has an almost evil sound to it. I think it's because of the harshness of the "rag" ending.

Living in Scotland myself, Morag is rather out of fashion. (I'd compare it to Hilda or Jean.) It's not totally unusable, but I think it's no more out of place in England than it would be here.

I dislike Morag, because of the word "rag" in it I think. But if you want to use it, being in England shouldn't stop you :-)

I too love the name Morag, it's meaning and history are wonderful! Although I've always thought it was Irish, oh well, these Celtic names are often linked together. I think it has a beautiful, mystical sound to it! :)
It would certainly be a fairly unique name in the USA so lots of people would propably pronounce it mow-rag, instead of MOHR-ag, which isn't very attractive! So unfortunately I don't think you'll really be able to use it here unless you're sure it's your absolute favorite and you can stand a bit of ridicule from family and friends. :(

I think it's kind of cool, especially when you are Scottish. Go with the name you love, as long as it's not horrible for a child to live with, and that is not the case here, imo! Morag sounds sweet and different but nice.

Far far far to old fashioned. Look in the Scottish names section for more ideas!
