Cateline
How do you pronounce Cateline? Is the -line like "line" or "lyn"? Do you like it? Could you see it being used currently or is Caitlin (or a variant) just better and easier to read? What do you prefer?tia!

I like it as a spelling variant for Caitlin. It looks prettier and wouldn't cause much confusion because there are so many spellings around anyway. I still prefer Caitlin because it's more authentic.I also like Cateline pronounced kate-LEEN or kaht-LEEN but it never occured to me to pronounce the second part as LINE at all.

I'd pronounce it with a 'leen' sound at the end, something like cat-ah-leen.

Knowing it's French, I'd pronounce it kat-a-LEEN. I think it's a pretty name, but a bit too... lofty feeling, if that makes sense. Maybe a bit pretentious. I could definitely see it being used. It would fit with the frilly name trend, even though it doesn't end with -a. But hey, that's what Catalina is for! Except that's a salad dressing.

I was almost named this, when my parents thought they might live in France (I was born in Brazil, they named me Catalina instead). They heard it pronounced KAHT-leen there, with a teeny schwa-ish sound between the two syllables, which I think is beautiful. Sometimes I use it as an alias on websites or chats. I think it's a prettier, more elegant alternative to Caitlin, which I like as well. Just as long as people don't try to screw up the spelling like they so often do with Caitlin (Kaitlyn, Caitlynn, or Katelynn could turn into Kateline, Kaitline, Kateleen....)

I pronounce the name KAHT-leen, KAT-uh-leen and KAT-uh-lien. I prefer the three syllable pronuncations, particularly KAT-uh-leen. I can see it being used today, but I think it'll be lumped in with the Caitlin / Katelyn / Kaetlin / Kaetelinne etc. group. :(

I thought cat-uh-LINE when I say it. I also thought it was a bit strange and confusing. Caitlin and variants are easier for me to read.

I pronounce it like "leen". I think it's a bit better than Caitlin, just because it isn't so crazily popular, and I could see it being used currently.
