Amelia

It sounds nice, but is permanently overshadowed by the ditsy image of Amelia Bidilia.
I like it, but don't love it. Even before it got trendy, it always reminded me of "mealy," and I hated that. Now, of course, it's with Eleanor and Abigail as ridiculously-popular-names-from-19th-century brought back.
Amelia Poppy Ruth is *nice.* That's about all I can say. It's very pretty, but it feels kind of blah because of the huge wave of similar names cropping up. I think if I had seen this five years ago, I would have thought it was super original and really cool, but I can't really say that anymore. :/ I'm sorry! Milly and Amy are cute, but I'd use Melia or Mia, personally.

I agree of all of what is above.

I really like Amelia, and I like both of your nickname choices as well. I like that it's a little bit bookish and intelligent sounding but also has an edgier side due to the Amelia Earhart association. I don't think it's too popular, at least not in my area. I've only ever met one, a little two year old who goes by the nickname Mia.
I have this irrational dislike of Amelia. I say irrational because I love Emilia, which I pronounce almost exactly the same way. Perhaps it's "pick a team" syndrome and I've landed squarely with Emilia.
Emilia for me is associated with Shakespeare and ancient Rome. Amelia reminds me more of a spoiled brat. I shouldn't do this to myself because there's nothing wrong with Amelia at all. I wish I could shake it.
I do love the nns Milly and Amy. :-) I can also see Mia and Mimi coming from an Amelia.
As for the combination "Amelia Poppy Ruth" I'm not the best person to ask. Poppy makes me think of heroin and Ruth sounds like a dog barking -- although I'm beginning to have a change of heart on Ruth. The flow of Amelia Poppy Ruth is really good, except that "Poppy Ruth" is making my hungry for a Baby Ruth candy bar.
Wow. That was so cranky and unhelpful. It must be the turkey doing that. Sorry. :-(
I will say that if I ever met an Amelia Poppy Ruth in real life I would smile and silently acknowledge the fellow namenerd who had a hand in its creation. It's miles above the usual Nevaeh Rose on BA lists. :-) Amelia is a feminine classic that any daughter could be proud to wear.

It's too popular for my taste, but it is a beautiful name. I see the appeal.
I like Amelia too, almost despite myself. It's such a warm name, I always picture it attached to an open-hearted, friendly person. I really like Amy as a nickname, too.
Amelia Poppy Ruth isn't bad, but I don't particularly like it. Poppy and Ruth seem so opposed when side-by-side. Sticky-sweet Poppy makes Ruth look positively grim by comparison. I do like the combo's rhythm, though.

It's cute if populartiy does not bother you. Amy is the better nickname in my opinion. As for the combo I don't like Poppy because I think it's not a name a grown woman should have and since every girl will grow up someday I'd avoid it. With Ruth it's the opposite, almost too mature but that I can handle that.

I love Amelia! I'm 22 weeks pregnant and even before we knew it's a girl, I decided on Amelia. Our oldest daughter also loves the name from Dr. Who (Amelia Pond is the brave Scottisch girl who travels with the Doctor).
We're just not at all sure on a name to combine it with, especially because A names are traditionally used as middlenames in our family, but I can't find a first name I like better than Amelia so I'm concidering breaking with tradtion.
