Re: Names that are popular with celebs but not in general
in reply to a message by Lily
Even though I realize it is not up to me and I need not be consulted I was simply beside myself when I found out a few years back the names Julia Roberts had chosen for her twins. To me in the 21st century(even though some names do make a comeback) these just should not have and cannot imagine calling a young lady "Hazel" it just sounds so ugly to me; and then there is the boy twin "Phinnaeus" really?

No, she shouldn't. Her lips are scary, and I would hate to see them be passed on to her children.

Julia Roberts should have spelled it Phineas. Phinnaeus is as bad as Alyxzandrah or something.

I hardly think adding one extra letter to an ancient foreign-language name is on par with butcherings like Alyxzandrah. Don`t think the name should be used on newborns now though. Phineas & Ferb makes it unusable. Though I suppose if your mom is Julia Roberts you can be named whatever the hell you want.

Thank god I'm not the only one who feels this way. Having read "Watership Down" at a young age, Hazel is a rabbit in my mind. Phinneaus is just plain ugly and out-dated. I would half-expect a Phinneaus to offer me a phosphate and ask if I want to take a look at his newfangled daguerreotype device.

I love Watership Down :D

Phineas would have been cool. I just think Phinnaeus is too much. I like Hazel, though. Phinnaeus' middle name is Walter. Not really a fan but it's growing on me a bit.
