Alexander
For awhile I've been liking Alistair, but it was recently vetoed by my husband, who thinks it looks and sounds like Alabaster (so picky, grr!). So now I'm turning to Alexander, which yes, is very common, but I like the unusual nicknames for it (other than of course the obvious Alex). What are your favorite nn's for Alexander? I like Xan/Zan, which would sound cool with my last name.

Well, well. Alexander looks and sounds, to me anyway, much closer to Alabaster than Alistair. And Alabaster is a surname, which might or might not be a good thing.
My nephew, Alexander Duncan Scottishln, was known as Zander when he was tiny: his big brother was famous for calling him BabybrotherZander, all in one breath. Then it expanded to Alexander, which it still is when he's naughty, and shrank again to Alex. Which is fine by me and it does suit him better than Zander, but my personal choice would be Alec, which he's never used at all.

My favorite nickname for Alexander is Sasha. I do like the obvious Alex, and I also like Lex and Ali. Xan/Zan is okay, but it wouldn't make my top three nickname choices.
