I'm surprised it's not more popular too. Maybe it's too reminiscent of tears and tyranny to have wide-spread appeal? Anyway, I like it, and I prefer the Tiernan spelling.

The tyranny connection came up when Tierny was mentioned earlier this month. I can see why that might be a problem for some people, but I think it's less of an issue with Tiernan. (I also prefer that spelling).
