Ellie has a nickname for Elisabeth?
I've been thinking about the nickname of Ellie for Elisabeth for a few days now and I love it. Could it work? What's your favorite Elisabeth/Elizabeth nickname?

My middle name is Elizabeth and since my first name is Sarah its so common i've been wanting to go by Elizabeth. Eli (said like Ellie) was the first nn i LOVED! but i also like Liza, Eliza, and Lizzie. I can't stand Beth or Liz though.

It definitely works, although I prefer Eleanor as a full name for Ellie. My fav Elisabeth nns are Bess or Libby

Sure it could work. It's my fave nick for Elizabeth too. My fave Elizabeth combo is Elizabeth Eve. I also like Elizabeth Juliet.

I absolutely love it! I would name my daughter that, however my name is Kelley and the names are almost exactly the same. My second favorite nickname would be Eliza.

I've known at least 3 little girls called Ellie who were short for Elizabeth (they'd all be probably around 10-13 now). Maybe it's a New England thing, but Elizabeth is very popular here, and so people are always finding "new" nns for it. My favorite nn for Elizabeth is Bess. I also like Liza.

I like it. I'd also like it spelled Eli.
I'm friends with an Elizabeth "Izzy" and I know a few Elizabeths "Liz".
My friend is friends with a Canadian Elizabeth who goes by Eli (but it isn't pronounced "Ellie", it's pronounced like the boys name Eli.) At first I thought that was strange, but it's grown on me.
Elsa and Elsie are cute and pretty, but I think they only suit certain people. Also Elise.
I also know a young Eliza-- I'm not sure if it's her full name or short for Elizabeth. Her siblings have short names (Liam and Emma), so it's probably just Eliza...
Oh, and I've also met a total of ONE Elizabeth my age who goes by "Beth". And there is one my mom's age who goes by Betsy / Betsey.

My mn is Elizabeth and they called me "little bit", "Bee", and "first name Beth", when I was little, there are lots of options for Elizabeth and I think Ellie works well!

It definitely works. I change my favorite constantly. I usually just go with Lizzie.

It's fine - but I think it wastes the other nns that are unique to Elizabeth:
Libby is my favourite but Betsy is cute.
The French Lisette is pretty for Elisabeth but Lizette reminds me of Lizard.
Eliza is too Dolittlish for me but there was a nn for that in the 19th century that seems surprisingly modern - Lylie (shades of Kylie!)
