Margaux or Margot?

Margaux
I love the X in there, the whole "aux" part gives me the pleasant shivers. It's very elegant. Margot looks gutteral and flatfooted to me.

Margaux
I prefer this spelling. Though whenever I heard this name I think of someone who is really stuck up and has a lot of money.

I prefer Margo.
I wouldn't call someone Maggot or Margucks. Regardless of pronunciation Margo looks better than both.

Margaux Hemmingway was named after a French wine, not even a wine growing region in France. Her suicide and the family's history of alcoholism is all that I can think of when I see Margaux. It looks gimmicky anyway.
Margot is the French form of the name Marguerite. Margot has history behind it. It's the only form of the name Margot that I like.
Sylvia / Sylvie and Margot sound like elegant and confident sisters to me. :-)

They have very different feels, but I like them both. I'd choose Margaux, since it seems older and more complex to me (I do like simple names, but in this case Margaux is more complex than Margot in a good way). I can easily picture a fairly average teenager by the name of Margot, but Margaux is the weird one reading Shakespeare and growing herbs in the windowsill.
Margot
Margot, for sure, though my true favorite spelling is Margo. I love it. For a long while, it was my top name, and I still think it's beautiful. It's one of those names that seems to have it all: femininity, strength, intelligence, and beauty. As a bonus, it's familiar, but at the same time very uncommon. It's a winner. (I think Margo just ended up back on my own list!)
Margot and Vincent
Margot and Lionel
Margot and Philip
Margot and Ross
Margot and Tristan
Margot and Jasper
Margot and Benedict
Margot and Natalie
Margot and Imogen
Margot and Valerie
Margot and Alice
Margot and Cecily
Margot and Sophia
Margot and Julia
Margot Eva
Margot Evelyn
Margot Adele
Margot Anastasia
Margot Victoria
Margot Silvia
Regarding Margaux...well, I have strong, negative feelings about Margaux, so be warned. *deep breath*
Margaux drains Margot of every ounce of class. It takes an intelligent, elegant name and downgrades it to the same level as other alcohol names like Brandy and Chardonnay or place names like Brittany and Siena. It's nails on a chalkboard to me, thoroughly déclassé, just a cheap knock-off of the original, and I'm always surprised that it gets the support it does here at BtN.

I like it well enough! It seems like a grown-up name to me - it's my mum's name (and my middle name). My mother's siblings are Julianne "Julie" and John. I'd also like to use Margot as an honouring name. Maggie is a favourite of mine so there's a possibility I might even use Margot as a FN. My mum is very rarely called anything but Margot.
I think I prefer Margot. It's fun and spunky and doesn't feel like it's trying so hard to be trendy like Margaux might.

I love the name Margot (this spelling). It has a classic beauty and a regal air. Margaux is cool too, but Margot just looks cleaner to me. Personally, I hope to use Margot one day as a sister to Genevieve Florence. :3 For a brother, I'm considering Jules, Julien, Robin, Sacha, Luca or Jasper.
I've been trying to find the "perfect" combo for a long time. :( I haven't had any luck though. Currently, I'm flirting with Margot Clementine, Margot Violette, Margot Irene or Margot Irena, Margot Beatrice, and Margot Emmanuelle.
