I think Silas is a nice name. Cyrus is nms though.
I like Silas.
It would be fun, or sort of fun, to have male twins, and call them Paul and Silas. (Biblical reference, if you're not familiar).

I like Silas a lot. It use to be my second favorite boys name for a while but then Magnus jumped up to second and currently Arturus at second. Silas is still in my Top 5.
I like Cyrus but I much prefer Silas. I also like Cyprus and Cygnus.
Silas sounds so English or Irish to me. It also makes me think of the forest. I picture a scholarly person when I hear Silas. Maybe a scholar who studies forests. My partner doesn't like Silas because he's seen at least two movies where a villan was named Silas so he connects the name Silas with villans. I've met many cute babies recently named Silas so I don't have that connection enough to make me dislike it.

I want to like Silas, but it reminds me of the crazy guy from the Da Cinvi Code. And silos. And I just picture a small, shivery, mousy little kid.
Cyrus reminds me of Cyrus Trask from East of Eden, who was quite an evil character.

I like Silas. Probably not enough to use it on my own child, but I appreciate and admire it. For me, it's worlds ahead of Cyrus- the two names have completely different feelings for me. Silas is gentlemanly and a tad scholarly, and reminds me of the 1800s, while Cyrus just gives off a too country vibe for me.
The only thing I don't care for about it is the sounds - too much S. But the long I goes a long way to make up for that.
I overheard a woman calling her son Silas in the children's museum, and decided it sounded better than I had previously thought. I like the look of Cyrus better, but overall my impression of Silas is better.

I love it. It's so elegant yet boyish.
Silas is great!
I love it and it's way better than Cyrus.

I like it. I prefer it pronounced like see-las but sy-las is nice too. Silas is much better than Cyrus. There was a book and TV series when I was little called Silas And The Black Horse so I always associate Silas with that.
I hate it with a passion. Reminds me of a silo. And that awful guy from ahhh I forgot the name. That really popular book and movie. And he always hits himself. He's an albino. I totally forgot the name, but i guess you know what I mean.
I actually don't know haha or maybe I do but I'm just not thinking of it right now.. I can't remember ever seeing a movie with an albino guy though.
I love Silas. It's one of my faves for a boy.
I prefer Silas to Cyrus. While I do like the sound of Cyrus, I think of Billy Ray Cyrus and Miley Cyrus, so that dampens it for me. I also prefer the way Silas looks and sounds.

Sorry, never been a big fan. It's very snakelike, so it's shady and sneaky and untrustworthy. I wish I liked it. I like Sil-, but it's the long i sound that turns me off. Lately I don't dislike it as much as I used to because I can also picture it as some very devoutly religious old guy out on the prairie, driving his rickety wooden cart pulled by a mule. That's a nice image, but it still doesn't make me like Silas.
ETA: Forgot about the Cyrus part. Cyrus is okay. I like it better than Silas. It's much more intelligent and mature, and it's full of nice and warm colors, which I prefer to the cold ones in Silas. I want to like Cyrus more too because it looks and sounds great, but it makes me think too much of Osiris.

I agree. It's untrustworthy. I don't like Cyrus much either all I can think of is Billy Ray.
I prefer Cyrus. I think that Silas is a bit more trendy, whereas Cyrus is classic. Cyrus also seems more masculine to me than Silas. I think that the I sound with the central L in Silas feminizes it for me. (I feel the same about Riley and Kyle, which have both gained popularity as girl's names). I also love the nickname Cy (that spelling).
